1 Minute Bible Study for 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A

Today’s theme is humbleness as prophet Zephaniah states, which is a must in your dealings with the Lord. St Paul asserts, it to shame the wise, God chose what is foolish by human reckoning, thus if you boast, you can boast only in the Lord. Jesus preaches the eight beatitudes at the sermon on the mount. Jesus taught how blessed it is to be poor in spirit, gentle, mourn, hunger for right, merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers and persecuted. That is, to be totally dependent on God, as we are in a journey towards eternal glory!

WORD stirs you up, if you’re in a wrong place thinking it is right the WORD will pinch you, as it did to David. How WORD came to David was through prophet Nathan’s narration of the poor man’s ewe lamb. David had to pay for His sin, not that God was cruel but to turn David back to his senses, and David repented. In the new testament Jesus calls apostles let’s cross over. The storm water filled the boat, but why struggle when Jesus is in your boat. It is the WORD that awakens you to this understanding. WORD will stir you, to cleanse you as it did to David and, also to test & sharpen your faith. In such faith you can face any storm knowing my God is greater!

No matter how accomplished you’re, you cannot take a break in your calling, like David did, as enemy prowls around all the time. Jesus compares God’s kingdom to a mustard seed, day & night, even when you’re sleeping the seed grows. When you scatter the WORD God does the rest making your faith grow. But if you you took a break, parasitic plants will grow and destroy the shrub, your faith. Thus no vacation in your vocation. Till you die you have to fight & be on guard.

You will receive in the measure you give to your brother. That is, what you give is what you save in heaven. One who has more will be given more, from the one who has less, even what he has will be taken away. You can’t live with an understanding that what you have is what you earn, no, you’re a branch CONNECTED to the vine, so your fruits belong to everyone. God gives you to feed others through you. When you’re a lamp you have to burn to light up others. When you enter a house you do not admire the lamp but other things lit up by the lamp. So God put you on a lamp stand not to shine yourself, but to be a light to others. Be mindful of your hidden lives, because God’s light reveals everything. Thus come to Him with a clear conscience and also know that what you give on earth is what you earn in heaven!
